guilty pleasure (Merriam-Webster) -
something pleasurable that induces a usually minor feeling of guilt
I have been avoiding to write this post for the past few hours. I am too embarrassed.
Okay, I am just going to say it. I just enjoyed myself all day and did nothing related to my project. I played with my computer all day and made some major changes to it. I have been trying to do this for a long time and I picked the worst of all time to finally do it.
I am not upset. Infact I am very excited that I finally did what I have been trying to do for so long but that’s the definiton of a guilty pleasure – pleasurable yet shameful.
Initially I thought of not writing today’s blog because of embarrassment. But I have made a rule for myself that no matter what I must write every day and I must write about what I truly am.
I have a few friends who sometimes read these posts. By a few friends I mean 1 <= n <= 4 people. After reading this they will get to know that I am not good with deadlines. I just don’t want my ex to read this. That would be extremely embarrassing. She already knows about all this while other people don’t but I would still be most embarrassed to admit this in front of her.
New rule for future blog posts of this nature:
- All the posts of this type – that are short and do not require much thinking – must take less 20 minutes in total, from opening the terminal to updating the website. I am taking too much time to write such simple things.
- I won’t be too serious about structure and grammar in such posts. Again, too much time goes in just staring at the screen.
I would make similar rules for the other type of blog posts – long ones with a background story. These rules would only apply to the posts published under the Blog category.
